Brothers and Sisters In Christ. I am Terry Marta. Here is a little information about myself. I grew up in Shadyside, Ohio in the Ohio Valley. I received the call to preach as a young teen. I am a graduate of Ohio University with an AB in general psychology. I then attended Nazarene Theological Seminary and received a Master of Divinity degree in 1981. I have pastored the Elk City Church of the Nazarene on the Joplin District beginning in March of 1981 and just retired from that church January 1, 2023. Almost 42 years. I also worked at a small school as a bus driver and substitute teacher. Many years ago I taught Old Testament and New Testament Introductions for the Independence, Kansas Community College. I have also taught a few classes for the Joplin District under the older education format.
I am looking forward to taking part in this new role and trust that, with God, we will all grow in our faith. Kelly said I should give you some of my expectations regarding classwork. Certainly you want to do your best. Keeping on schedule is of upmost importance. I am assuming most of you are working towards pastoring in some manner. Sunday comes every week and we need to be ready for it. No better preparation than to make certain we are on time with assignments. Yes, I spent a "few" late Saturday nights making certain I was ready for Sunday. Do the assignments and take part in the discussions forum. Let's get to know and help one another. I'm sure there will be more. Looking forward to rewarding times.
Terry Marta
